Residents of Fylingthorpe may have done a d-d-double take this week after spotting a spelling error on one of the village’s recently-installed street signs.
The Middlewood Crescent sign was installed with an additional ‘D’, without any of the council’s staff noticing.
Martin Pedley, asset and risk manager at the borough council blamed an “administrative error” and said: “The street name was incorrectly spelt on the sign and unfortunately the mistake was not spotted during the installation process. A replacement sign has been ordered and will be installed upon delivery. In future, checking procedures at the suppliers and during our installation process will be tightened.”
