A FUND-RAISING event recently raised over £27,000 for Whitby’s RNLI team.
A ‘Beater’s Ball took place on Saturday 9 June, with the permission of Warter Priory Estates, near York.
The annual event was organised by Dorothy Brighton, sister of Warter Priory estate manager and head keeper, Frank Croft.
Whitby coxswain Mike Russell was overwhelmed by the generosity of the estate and the guests at the ball and said: “It has been a fantastic evening, enjoyed by all, and the total raised for the RNLI was unbelievable.
“I wish to express my thanks to Dorothy Brighton without whose determination and hard work these annual events would not be possible.”
The money raised will go towards purchasing new state-of-the-art lifejackets for the RNLI crew.
