Train sparks grass fire

FIRE crews spent over three hours tackling a grass fire at the side of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

They were called to the side of the line at Levisham on Tuesday just after 4.30pm.

A spark from the steam train caused a 300 square metre grass fire.

The Pickering crew used hoses and the main pump to tackle the fire and returned to the station just before 8pm.
