A team of tractor pullers showed the Whitby Regatta marshalls how it’s done with a routine win in the annual Regatta tug of War competition.
Despite sneaking an additional competitor on to the back of the Yellow Jackets’ team - you get away with things like that when the independent adjudicator is Regatta chairman Ivor Greer - the Tractor Pullers still managed to claim the trophy and case of beer that was awarded to first place.
In addition, a youngsters competition between the boys and the girls was held and Mr Greer said: “The tug of war was brilliant. It’s nice to get the kids involved. Unfortunately, the turn out for the tug of war was low due to the thunderstorm which came, prior to event, which depleted the crowds.”
Despite a reduced turn out, Mr Greer said he hoped more teams will take part in the annual Regatta tradition next year.
