THREE Whitby youngsters showed off why they are super kids.

They have been crowned this year’s winners of the Whitby Gazette’s Super Kids competition.

There were three categories for different age groups.

Leanne Queen and Michael Gilding of Coronation Avenue, Hinderwell, were delighted that their daughter Abii won the 0-18 months old category at the first time of taking part in such a competition.

Lily Faichney, who turned two on Wednesday, was voted the prettiest tot in the 18 months to three years age group.

Her parents are local footballer Jake Faichney and Demi Clarkson of Middlewood Meadow, Fylingthorpe.

Demi said: “She won it last year but I did not expect her to win again.

“She was two on Wednesday so it is a nice birthday present.

Three year-old Keigan Moth topped the older age group which featured children up to the age of six, much to the delight of his parents Jenny Winspear and Craig Moth of Murrayfield Gardens in Whitby.

Craig said: “We were chuffed.

“They phoned Jenny to tell her and she was delighted.”

The proud parents collected framed prints of their cuties from editor Jon Stokoe at the Whitby Gazette offices on Bridge Street.

The competition was held in conjunction with the Gazette and Rose&Sons Child Photography who photographed the young entrants of the competition at the Tourist Information Centre.

The pictures were featured in a special supplement in the Whitby Gazette in May and it was then up to the public to vote for their favourite.
