Survivors of Domestic Abuse (SODA) are organising a sponsored walk to raise awareness of domestic violence.
“Becca’s Walk” will take place on 21 and 22 May and is being held in memory of Rebecca Kowal who was murdered by her partner in 2008.
Lindy O’Hare, director of SODA, said: “Her murderer was sentenced to life imprisonment, but the family and friends left behind are also serving a life sentence without their beloved Rebecca.
“We have lots of willing participants and the event is open to anyone who would like to join us, even if it’s just for a mile or so.”
On 21 May the walk will take place along the cinder track from Scarborough to Whitby.
The “Gallon Walk” on 22 May will then take place at a leisurely pace from Goathland to Lealholme, incorporating eight pubs along the way.
A police support unit will also be on hand to assist any walkers.
