Slideshow: Whitby youngsters get into the red nose spirit

People around the Whitby area got into the red nose spirit on Friday to help raise money for Comic Relief.

At Hawsker School, children and staff dressed up to the theme of ‘make em’ laugh’ and everyone did just that, with a wide selection varying from children with odd socks and shoes on, funny wigs and boys dressed as girls and princesses.

Parents donated cakes and all the classes then had a baking day in aid of #bakeamillion that Malteaser are supporting. The infants of Hawsker School made two enormous chocolate cakes topped with Maltesers with a cheeky Red Nose on the top, while the juniors made a Malteser cheesecake and a rocky road.

A bake sale at the end of the day allowed parents and children to buy cakes.

Miss Murfield, pictured here dressed as a hot dog, said: “We all had such a good day and everyone looked fantastic.”

Schools across the Whitby area all got involved with the fun - here are some of your photos. You can email your pictures to: editorial@whitbygazette.co.uk
