A SLEIGHTS sailor and artist will display her work in a combined exhibition and sale of paintings in the village.
Chris Carbro will be showing her art at Sleights Village Hall alongside fellow artists, Gail Hirst and Sue Morton on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March between 10am and 4pm.
Chris, who is secretary of Whitby Boating Association and a member of Whitby Yacht Club has sailed out of Whitby since 1985.
She said: “I have spent many hours watching the sea and I’m inspired by the effect of light reflecting on waves and the shapes and colours of clouds mirrored in the sea.
“I am particularly fascinated by the drama of stormy seas and try to capture their power in paint.”
Chris studied History of Art at university and has always drawn and painted.
She paints with several groups of local artists and has taken part in exhibitions selling work from Whitby’s Pannett Art Gallery, the Moors Centre, Danby, the Eskvale Group exhibition at Sandsend and the Trattles and Geall Gallery, Whitby.
