THE LANGLEY Muir, Whitby’s relief inshore lifeboat, was called out for the first time last Saturday (5 February).
The Nichola Faith, a 10 metre fishing boat, was moored in the upper harbour when she began taking on water.
The skipper slipped her mooring and attempted to ground the boat at Spital Bridge slip.
Fearing that the Whitby cobble would not be able to make the trip the skipper contacted Whitby Lifeboat.
The relief lifeboat arrived at the scene with the RNLI’s salvage pump and was able to keep the boat afloat until it was grounded on the slip.
