The curtain comes down today on another successful Whitby Regatta.
All weekend the town has been enjoying the event of the year and today will see it topped off with the last of the rowing races, a fun fair and grand fireworks finale which can be seen from all over the town.
In addition to this morning’s fancy dress parade and floats, thousands have attended this year so far and taken part in the huge variety of events making up the programme or wandered along the West Cliff to browse the stalls and attractions.
The market on Archery Green which is new to this year has already proved very popular and all being well will be back next year, while the bonny baby and glamorous granny competitions attracted more entries than previous years.
Hundreds lined the piers to watch the raft races, sail past and the greasy pole competition while the rowing clubs were on the water for most of the weekend and are all set for prizes to be presented tonight at the Pavilion.
