Fund-raisers in Briggswath are busy baking and are set to fill lots of tea cups as they prepare for a charity tea party.
As part of Marie Curie’s national event ‘Hold a Blooming Great Tea Party’, a group of Whitby people are preparing to serve up lots of treats including afternoon tea, scones, cakes, and sandwiches to raise lots of money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
All the proceeds made from the tea party will help the charity continue to care for people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.
Every £20 raised will help pay for one hour of nursing care, last year’s tea parties raised enough money to fund around 30,200 hours of care.
With attractions from tombola, a craft stall and sales tables with Christmas cards, it’s an event not to be missed.
Organisers are inviting everyone to come along and support the big charity tea party.
The event will be held on Sunday from 2-5.30pm at The Hawthorns, Ridge Lane.
