THE third of three races is being run this weekend in memory of a former scout leader and pantomime dame.

Keith Brice who lived on Esk Terrace died from lung disease in June last year when he was 63 and since then Alex Roberts, partner of Keith’s son Daniel, has run two races for charity.

The first two were in Manchester where Alex lives and were in aid of the Stroke Association and Cancer Research respectively.

But on Sunday she will be doing the Great North Run, which is 13km, to raise money for the British Lung Foundation – a cause that is close to the family.

Keith’s daughter Gemma is trying to drum up local support to raise money for the charity.

She said: “We’d be delighted if people could help Alex reach her £500 target. Dad entertained many Whitby panto audiences and those kids who will remember him will be grown up now with kids of their own.

“Alex, myself and our family would be so very grateful if people could support the British Lung Foundation by sponsoring Alex as little as a pound in Dad’s memory.”
