Castleton Post Office will close next week and a new local service will open in the premises next door in its place.
Launching on Wednesday January 13, the new service will be provided at a combined counter in the Tea rooms, The Chapel.
The Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.
Although the Post Office next door will close, customers can still acces a wide range of mailing services, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.
The move also means that the service will be open an extra 11 hours every week so customers can visit when it is most convinient. Post Office services will be available during the tea rooms’ opening hours, from 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
Suzanne Richardson, regional manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.”
She added: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.”
From Wednesday, all Post Office services will be carried out at its newly refurbished premises and the old office will shut its doors.
