Easier ways to pay council bills

WHITBY residents will be able to pay council bills at newsagents and other local shops rather than having to go to the council offices.

Anywhere displaying a PayPoint sign will be able to accept cash payments for council tax, business rates and overpaid housing benefit, providing the person making the payment takes with them the bill they have received from the council containing a unique payment barcode.

The council is currently working with a number of businesses across the borough to ensure as many residents as possible can access an outlet in their local community.

Council customers will also be able to pay by cash or cheque at their local post office but council Customer Firt centres like the one in Skinner Streetare moving away from accepting cash or cheque payments.

Anyone wishing to find their nearest PayPoint outlet can visit www.allpay.net/outlet or contact Customer First by emailing customer.first@scarborough.gov.uk or calling 01723 232323.
