A Destroyer anchored off Whitby on Monday, with the crew promised a ‘fish and chip run’ after a spot of cleaning.
HMS Edinburgh was heading north on a final tour of the country, before it is due to be decommissioned in Portsmouth next month.
During the ship’s stay, Press Association photographer Ben Birchall, who has joined the crew for the final vayage, Tweeted images of Whitby from the deck of the 30-year-old ship, which is the Navy’s largest Type 42 Destroyer.
Messaging Gazette reporter Karl Hansell, Ben said: “@karlhansell we’ve just anchored. Some 45 gun cleaning and hopefully a fish & chip run...Fingers crossed.”
