WHITBY Photographic Society announced the winner of its Peter Thornton Trophy on 3 February.

Entries were based around a theme of ‘Reflections’, and Sid Weatherill’s ‘Saltwick Sunset’ was chosen as the pick of the bunch.

The runner-up was Carol Walker with ‘Boat Reflections in the Harbour’ and third place went to Kathleen Horsley with ‘Icy Reflections’.

Members were each allowed to submit four prints and the competition was judged by David Jarvis from Scarborough Photographic Society.

Mr Jarvis said: “Mr Weatherill’s was the best in my opinion.

“There was reflections into the pool on the sea shore, with the beautiful sunset in there too.”
