THE Yorkshire Building Society in Flowergate has handed over £200 to Whitby DAG (Whitby and District Disablement Action Group) as part of a campaign to find out which charities the local community would like to see the society support.

The group will use this money to support their work in helping those with disabilities and their carers in the Whitby area.

Earlier in the year the society’s Whitby branch launched its Charity Choice campaign, choosing its charities and asking customers to use voting tokens to indicate how they would like a donation of £1,500 to be split between the three.

The three charities chosen by the staff that live and work in Whitby were the RNLI, Whitby Lions and Whitby DAG.

All three charities received a split of the donation according to how customers of Yorkshire Building Society had voted.
