A GROUP of Whitby youngsters has taken part in a once-in-a-lifetime voyage on board a sailing yacht.

The youngsters sailed the 72-foot challenge yacht One Hull from the Humber, intending to berth at Endeavour Wharf.

Unfortunately adverse weather conditions scuppered this plan and the Catzero youth development craft was forced to dock elsewhere, with the youngsters instead arriving back at Whitby via bus on 6 October.

However, Deborah Stelling said the youngsters learned valuable lessons: “This challenging, once-in-a-lifetime voyage had the young people learning all aspects of sailing and running this 72ft vessel, while challenging themselves against the elements and learning to live in close quarters with their peers.

“Catzero, the Hull-based charity, worked in partnership with NYCC’s Whitby 4Youth and Whitby police to bring this fantastic experience to 12 lucky teenagers.”
