A CALENDAR featuring naked Whitby binmen raised over £2,000 for charity.
The 12 workers from Scarborough Borough Council’s waste and recycling departments stripped off last year with just pieces of recyling equipment hiding their modesty.
They were snapped in various locations around Whitby and Scarborough and each month of the Recycling Laid Bair has a recycling message and a helpful hint or fact to help residents in the borough recycle even more household waste.
The cheque for £2033.60 was handed over to the two charities that will benefit from the money – Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Help for Heroes.
The money came from sales of the calendar and on the launch night the first calendar signed by all the models went for £150.
Andy Skelton, head of environmental services at Scarborough Borough Council, said: “This was a project that was suggested by our staff and we were pleased to support them.
“The models gave up their free time for the photo sessions and have produced a fun calendar with a recycling message and raised money for two charities which are well thought of by local people’
Paul Margetts, who is Mr July and the council’s cleansing team leader, added: “When my colleagues and I were first asked to take part in this calendar initially we were very apprehensive.
“We really enjoyed everything about the calendar and what makes it all even better is the two fantastic charities that will benefit.
“Most of the lads involved are ex-forces, which gave them the incentive to get their kit off.
“Overall it was an excellent experience and we are all really happy with the amount of funds raised.”
