A Whitby Community College pupil is celebrating after winning the prestigious Alternative Model of the Year competition and securing a modelling contract in the process.
Sarah Wright (18) of Westbourne Grove, said the prize was a great way to hit back at the school bullies who tormented her in the past. She said: “I got bullied and called a freak quite a lot, so I wanted to prove to them that having albinism doesn’t make you a freak, it just adds to how you look.”
The competition took place on Sunday in Newcastle and will also be featured in the National Geographic.
Sarah said she had never entered anything like this before, but sshe can now look forward to a career in modelling.
