ST CATHERINE’S Hospice is calling on residents to take place in a midnight walk to raise much-needed funds.

The event will take place in Scarborough on Saturday 10 September and the hospice hopes to replicate last year’s result, where over 800 walkers nationwide raised over £73,000.

Fund-raiser Penny Campbell is pleased to be organising this, the fourth midnight walk, and she added: “This is a great occasion in our calendar which everyone can join in, whatever their age.

“We do not ask for a minimum sponsorship because we realise that all of our walkers do their best to support their local hospice to the best of their ability.

“The money we raised last year will have paid for over seven families and their families to have received our care for one week.

“This help is priceless to those concerned and we are continually grateful for the support which we receive from the community.”

The price to register for the walk is £10, with the fee including a t-shirt, sponsored by Sainsbury’s.

Water and chocolate will also be given to every walker and at the halfway point Harbour Bar staff will be serving bacon butties, drinks and ice creams.
