A message in a bottle has been rescued from the harbour after it re-surfaced a year after it was thrown into the water.
Neil Boocock from Whitby was on the sand with his children Harry (11) and Adrianna (14) when they spotted the bottle near the old pumping station containing an order of service for Michael O’Brien (73) from Middlesbrough.
Michael loved Whitby and was a regular visitor to the town.
The Whitby Gazette tracked down Michael’s wife Mavis who said she was “absolutely delighted” the bottle had been found after one of his friends threw it into the harbour last year. Neil added: “It’s amazing it’s been bobbing around in the harbour all this time.”
