A SAINT Catherine’s Hospice luncheon held at Raithwaite Hall on 17 April turned out to be a “little gem”.

Lunch was enjoyed by 86 guests and Becky Tucker, a resident jeweller from W Hamonds Jewellers, gave a talk on the history of jet, its significance to Whitby and the continuation of modern jet jewellery designed today.

The event was one of many planned by the fund raising team and fund raiser Penny Campbell thanked the staff of W Hamonds, Raithwaite Hall, Jon Woollons and Meadow, who donated a raffle prize, for their support.

Mrs Cambell added: “The event raised £1,200 for Saint Catherine’s Hospice, which is a fantastic result for the patients and families who are cared for by their local Hospice.

“Last year over 2000 patients and their families were helped by Saint Catherine’s due to the generosity and loyal support of the area.

“Whitby is on the northern edge of the territory of Saint Catherine’s Hospice and it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the local businesses as well as raise money for Saint Catherine’s Hospice.”
