Writers unite at party
A NATIONAL literary society has "come of age" in a celebration at Robin Hood's Bay.
The Walmsley Society is for admirers of the writing of Leo Walmsley and the paintings of his father, Ulric, who lived and worked in Robin Hood's Bay between the late 19th Century and the mid 20th Century.
The annual meeting is always held in the village.
The 21st anniversary of the founding of the society was marked by a special weekend of events.
They included an exhibition of Walmsley memorabilia and slide shows in Fylingthorpe Parish Hall, a birthday party which included films, a lunch and also a guided walk along a route taking in places that figure in Walmsley books and pictures.
Society members came from far and wide for the weekend – one of the furthest travelled being society president Dr Sean Walmsley, son of Leo, who came across from America for the occasion.
