Work to stabilise east cliff starts tomorrow

WORK begins tomorrow to try and secure the cliff in the grounds of St Mary’s Church, Whitby in the latest bid to halt landslips.

Architects say fears, reported in national newspapers, that St Mary’s would fall down the cliff and into the sea couldn’t be further from the truth.

However, they did admit that they couldn’t guarantee there won’t be any further incidents of landslides because they have been going on for hundreds of years.
