Wet and windy weather battered Whitby this week and photographer Ceri Oakes captured the high tide rolling in on Tuesday evening.

Waves crashed against the beach huts and in the harbour water levels were unusually high, at almost six metres.

They were the highest tides for the month and even Kiddie’s Corner was under water.

However, the forecast suggests that rain will clear and the weather will become drier with sunny intervals.
