Whitby’s White Lily fund-raisers are being advised to apply to be a registered charity after a “best-ever” year which saw £2,000 being presented to each of the three hospices it supports.
Representatives of St Catherine’s and Butterwick Hospices and Zoe’s Place all received the cash at a handover at The Stables, which this year hosted the White Lily ball for the first time.
Funds were raised in memory of Janet and David Mothersdale, parents of ball organiser Lucy Bowes. Ideas for the next fund-raising include a Christmas fayre on December 7, a children’s party in the spring, music festival, coffee mornings and race nights. The new fundraising year has begun with Kate Sanderson raising £500 from her Total Warrior challenge. Next year’s ball will be at The Stables on May 29.
