Whitby drama group in plea for new members
WHITBY'S Apollo Players is on the hunt for new members.
The amateur dramatics group will be presenting Apollo Players Back to the 60s at Whitby Pavilion Theatre this summer.
Following on from the huge success of their previous two one-night only summer productions – Apollo Players Do Broadway in 2008 and Apollo Players at the Movies in 2009 – and the January pantomime of Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates, organisers are on the lookout for anyone who would like to take part.
The show is being put together by the society's musical director Chris Wales and choreographer Francoise Russell and promises to be an all-singing, all-dancing look back at the 60s.
Mr Wales said: "You don't have to be the best dancer or best singer – just have bags of enthusiasm and dedication.
"We are holding an initial welcome meeting on Wednesday at Eskmouth Scout Hall, Spring Hill, Whitby at 7.30pm.
"The idea of the meeting is to see who is interested, welcome potential new members and ask for ideas on songs, routines etc.
"Everyone will have to chance to contribute their 60s ideas. Everyone is welcome although new members must have turned 14 by 31 August last year."
