Walkers study village's medieval origins
A STUDY group in Hinderwell took a walk around their village with historian Gill Cookson to study its medieval origins.
The study was part of the Mulgrave Community Research Project which started in 2008 and now has 60 members.
The group began when a number of local people decided to research the old Saxon church at Seton, Staithes.
Spokeswoman for the group, Anthea Ellis, said: “We spent the day on a reading the landscape project looking back at the origins of the village to medieval times.
“It was originally probably built around the church and a village green.”
The next outing for the group is to be a walk through local woodland with historian Steve Sherlock.
