WHITBY residents have been among those prosecuted at Scarborough Magistrates Court for failing to purchase a TV licence.

Amie Kingston (28), of St Mary’s Crescent, was convicted of using a colour television without a licence in August last year and was fined £400, as well as a victim surcharge of £15. She was also ordered to pay costs of £90.

Claire Breckon (32), of Lowdale Lane in Sleights, was fined £205 for failing to purchase a TV licence.

Samantha Anscombe (25), of St Peter’s Road, and Karen Bowness (41), of Raglan Terrace, also pleaded guilty to using a colour television without a licence and both received fines totalling £185 each.
