Toll lifted for forest activities
NATURE fans are being invited to sample the delights of Dalby Forest for free tomorrow.
The Forestry Commission is lifting the normal 4 forest toll for the day as an added incentive to discover Yorkshire's biggest woodland.
There'll also be chance to try out orienteering, enjoy arts and crafts and go on a walk or bike ride.
And if you are smitten by the beauty spot, Discovery Passes will be on sale, providing year-round access along with other benefits like discounts and newsletters.
Forest chiefs have also announced most of the cycle and walking trails are now fully open for the first time in weeks after a thaw of snow and ice.
Only parts of the black graded mountain bike trail and Dixon's Hollow Skills Park remain off limits, although these should be re-opened soon, weather permitting.
Tanya Rex, Dalby Forest Visitor Centre manager, said: "Last year's free day was a cracking success with more than 1,000 people taking the chance to enjoy a day in the woods.
"It's the perfect chance to put a spring in your step and beat the winter blues.
"Stargazing, badger watches and bushcraft days all feature in the new What's On guide for North Yorkshire forests, just published.
"You can pick up a free leaflet from Dalby Forest Visitor Centre outlining scores of activities to tune into Mother Nature."
