Theft while man chases dog

A MAN had his rucksack stolen as he was trying to get his dog back when it slipped its lead on the beach.

Police say they have only just been contacted by the man who had hoped that it might get handed in in the meantime.

The black Adidas rucksack contained his sports kit and door keys and he put it down while he ran after the dog which he managed to find.

The theft happened near the ravine at around 2pm on Saturday 12 January.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Whitby Police.
