A CAT got the shock of its life last Thursday when it accidentally ran headfirst into a deer.

Ann Stothard, a former Whitby resident who owns a caravan in Ruswarp, said her partner had woken her up when he spotted the deer in their garden.

The couple began to quietly take photographs when a cat showed up. She said: “It just appeared around the corner and got the shock of its life.”

After staring face-to-face with the deer for a moment , the cat chose to run away.
