Flower power reigned supreme in Whitby on Wednesday as the town was visited by judges from Britain in Bloom.

The judges visited various areas in Whitby, including Clarks Yard (above), Pannett Park, Ruswarp and Raithwaite Hall, which has entered the competition for the first time.

Whitby in Bloom chairperson Amanda Smith said: “I would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who helped out.

“Even a rain shower during the day didn’t put a dampener on the day as it just made everything cleaner and brighter.”

Whitby has been entered into the small coastal town category, but Cllr Smith said the judges remained tight lipped about the town’s chances of scooping a prize.
