Nothing signals the start of spring like the drawing out of longer days and colourful bulbs poking out of the grass.

But the sight of new born lambs bouncing around green fields tells us warmer weather really is on its way.

Our photographer Ceri Oakes snapped these new lambs getting in amongst it with the other animals at a small holding near Sleights. The last few winters have been extremely hard for farmers and keepers of livestock with prolonged periods of heavy snow and ice, which in some cases has led to livestock deaths.
