Entries for the Eskdale Festival are 10 per cent up this year and the new chairmanof Dave Bradley, is looking forward to the event.
Dave is no stranger to the annual competition having been the headteacher at Eskdale School between 1991 and 2005.
He said: “Having taught drama for nearly 40 years and produced a string of musicals in schools throughout Yorkshire, I was delighted to be invited to be chairman for this competition.”
All local schools are represented in the competition and a range of talented individuals, choirs, bands and orchestras will appear during this feast of music and drama.

The spoken word competition is at Whitby Pavilion on Mrch 5 and 6. The music competition is being held at the same venue between Monday march 1o and and Thursday March 13.
There willl also be a gala concert on Saturday March 15.

Programmes for the festival are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Whitby for £2. Tickets for the competition are £2 per day; £6 for the gala concert.
