A housing provider is holding a ‘speed dating’ with a difference type event to try and solve some of the housing issues in Whitby.

Yorkshire Coast Homes is inviting tenants who are interested in swapping their homes to meet each other.

With government reforms like bedroom tax, more social housing tenants are looking to manage outgoings and home-swapping schemes can offer tenants the option of exchanging their properties for others of more appropriate or economical size.

“Room To Move” will take place at The Coliseum on Thursday 20th March, between 10am and noon, providing tenants with the opportunity to discuss options with housing association representatives and other tenants, on a face to face basis.

Housing Services Manager for Whitby, Melanie Tilley said, “Yorkshire Coast Homes recognises individuals and families want to remain living and working within their community. We hope this event will be successful in providing, support, advice and for some, the opportunity to swap into a home that meets their needs.” To register for the event ring (01723) 343436.
