Sleights schoolpupils get their skates on
CHILDREN at Sleights School have been indulging in a spot of ice skating ... indoors.
The school hired out a synthetic rink from Thirsk firm JLC Skating and the children got to grips with the basics of staying on their feet.
Music was played as the kids skated round, falling over more often than not but enjoying themselves never the less.
The event was organised by the FRoGS, the Fund-Raising Group Sleights and was deemed to be a great success.
Around 220 was made for school funds which may go towards playground equipment.
Other children were invited along to help boost the takings.
FRoGS member and parent Jo Robinson said: "It was really supported well.
"We are only a small school and we had sold 135 tickets, for a school fund-raiser this was fabulous.
"I think we have made about 220 for the school which we would like to use for new playground equipment.
"The kids loved it – I think they all slept well that night.
"They kept following the chap round as he was spraying water to make it slippier.
"All in all a great success."
FRoGS is now planning its next fund-raiser, a race night.
