Shop girds its loins with yet another gong
A SLEIGHTS butcher's shop is officially a cut above the rest.
Radford’s Butchers was named third in national newspaper, The Independent’s guide, to find the country’s top food shops.
The family business was placed third out of a total of 50 food shops throughout the country in a recent feature in the newspaper.
Proprietor Andrew Radford said: “We’ve won a lot of awards over the years but I’m quite proud of that one.
“It will probably have been awarded on our range of products, their traceability and consistent quality.
“Our products are very local mostly – we buy at Malton cattle market and feature Ryedale beef and lamb.
“We’ve just celebrated our 25th year in Sleights and we took the business over from my father Peter.
“It’s always been a family business and my twin sister Caroline runs the bakery side.”
Among the firm’s other awards was a regional one five years ago for their speciality steak pie.
Previously, the family farmed in Aislaby.
