Scheme to aid Whitby people's careers

HULL University's Business School will be at Whitby Library today to help under-employed people in Whitby.

The scheme aims to help those who live in the Yorkshire and Humber region with diplomas, degrees or equivalent qualifications, whose employment has been affected by the recession.

Works for You is supported by the Government's Economic Challenge Investment Fund and funded by Yorkshire Forward.

Director of learning and teaching at the business school, Dr Barbara Allan, is leading the project.

She said: "It is fantastic that so many people in senior roles have agreed to share their experience with those looking to progress their careers."

Participants may be unemployed or under threat of redundancy or they may feel that their career development prospects in the region are limited due to the current recession.

They also need to live in or have worked in the Yorkshire and the Humber region.

The session will be open from 10am to 2pm.
