A FESTIVE Victorian weekend in Robin Hood's Bay raised a record breaking amount for local good causes it has been revealed.

It was the 16th time the event had been organised and it has been hailed a success after a total of 3,666.99 was raised in early December.

Dock Hoyle, the chairman of the Robin Hood's Bay Tourism Association, said the event was enjoyed by many and there had been a mixture of new ideas and well-tried attractions.

He added: "It was great to see everyone who turned up, dressed up and opened up their houses and exhibitions supporting the weekend's events in the cafes, pubs and premises providing the atmosphere that makes the event so special."

He added that he wanted to thank everyone else who had helped during the weekend which ended with a spectacular firework display. "The display brought the event to a colourful end, finishing with a bang," he said.
