Robin Hood's Bay open gardens a success
ROBIN Hood's Bay's annual open gardens weekend once again attracted large crowds to the village.
Almost 30 gardens were open to the public to go and look around.
This year, money was being raised for Whitby's Parkinson's Support Group – although individual families were also collecting money for different charities, including St Catherine's Hospice and All Saints Church at Hawsker.
The open gardens ran the full length of Thorpe Lane, including Sunnyside Farm, from Sledgates, through Fylingthorpe and into Robin Hood's Bay.
Organiser Sue Tucker said the weekend had been a great success.
"There was a bit of rain but the die-hards came and the weather made the colours stand out I thought," she said.
"As it stands we have raised around 1,200 I think."
Among the highlights were a quilt display at Glen Dower, in Fylingthorpe, while Thorpe Hall and the Rev Canon David Purdy's vicarage gardens were also opened up for visitors to wander through and enjoy.
