Rescued Molly needs a good home

MOLLY the hound, recently saved from destruction, is seeking a new home with caring owners.

Molly is currently being looked after by Dennis and Norma Carrick of Raw Animal Rescue Centre.

Norma said: “She’s four years old and although she doesn’t like border collies she gets along fine with other dogs.

“She’s quite obedient and will go to her bed when she’s told. She loves going out but she’s quite strong so she needs an owner who’s used to dogs.

“She’d been handed in at Waterfall Kennels near Guisborough and was due to be put to sleep so we took her to try to find a home for her.”

Molly has not been spayed but Norma said they could give a voucher for 30 towards the cost of the operation.

Norma (68) and Dennis (75) have been running their animal rescue centre for 10 years.

Norma added: “It keeps you going – we haven’t had a holiday for a long time but we enjoy doing it.”

The couple are caring for a variety of rescued animals including three goats, 10 sheep, four ponies, a number of hens, geese and ducks, a chipmunk and two parakeets.

“One of the goats is blind but they follow each other around. The sheep are a mixture with some Soya which don’t need shearing,” Norma added.

Dennis is a former RLNI lifeboat man and was second coxswain on Whitby lifeboat.

When he retired the couple spent two years travelling around Europe in their own boat.

Last year, they successfully homed seven dogs and five cats. The couple raise the funding for the centre themselves – in April, for example, they will be fund-raising in Whitby during the annual Goth weekend.

l ANYONE who is interested in giving Molly a home, or any of the other animals at the centre, can contact Norma or Dennis on (01947) 880583.
