Phone thief strikes on Flowergate
A CCTV image of the man police are looking for
POLICE have issued the image of a man believe has stolen a mobile phone from a shop in Whitby.
They say he went into the shop on Flowergate on Wednesday 14 December between 12pm and 2.15pm last year and asked for a business card.
He came back a shirt time later with a leaflet for another business which he held in front of the woman working in the shop and a short time later she realised that her Blackberry mobile phone was missing.
The man is described as Asian, 5ft 7 tall, with medium build and black hair and at the time he was wearing a black jacket and a green jumper.
PC Melanie Smith from Whitby Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I would like to speak to anyone who can help with this enquiry and ask that they contact the police on Crimestoppers straight away.”
