POLICE have issued the image of a man believe has stolen a mobile phone from a shop in Whitby.

They say he went into the shop on Flowergate on Wednesday 14 December between 12pm and 2.15pm last year and asked for a business card.

He came back a shirt time later with a leaflet for another business which he held in front of the woman working in the shop and a short time later she realised that her Blackberry mobile phone was missing.

The man is described as Asian, 5ft 7 tall, with medium build and black hair and at the time he was wearing a black jacket and a green jumper.

PC Melanie Smith from Whitby Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I would like to speak to anyone who can help with this enquiry and ask that they contact the police on Crimestoppers straight away.”

Anyone with information can contact her on 101, press option 2, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Quote. “He came back a shirt time later with a leaflet for another”. Unquote. Having read the article and I feel sorry for the person whom had her phone stolen. Yet I feel the person paid to write the article should check fully what they have written.
