Panellists revealed for Whitby 'Question Time' - HAVE YOUR SAY
THE panellists who will be grilled by the Whitby public at a Question Time style debate next month have been revealed.
Key decision makers from Scarborough Borough Council, North Yorkshire County Council, North York Moors National Park Authority, the North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust which provides health services in the Whitby area and North Yorkshire Police will make up the panel.
They will answer questions submitted both before and at the event which will be chaired by Adam Tomlinson, presenter of BBC Radio York's Breakfast Show.
It is being held at Whitby Coliseum on Tuesday 2 March.
Sitting in the hot seat will be Javad Ali, chief superintendent of North Yorkshire Police, Jim Dillon, chief executive of Scarborough Borough Council, Tom Fox, leader of Scarborough Borough Council, Simon Cox, associate locality director for North Yorkshire and York NHS, Andrew Harper, assistant director (economic and rural services) for North Yorkshire County Council and Richard Gunton, director of the North York Moors National Park Authority.
Questions and suggestions for panelists have been submitted to the Whitby Gazette over the past few weeks and to organisers, the Northern Area Forum.
But people do not have to send in questions in advance and can raise a subject on the night if they wish.
Examples of question topics submitted to date include the area's mobile library which is under threat, plans for the cargo shed on Endeavour Wharf, the long awaited park and ride facilities which have been proposed for the town and Whitby Hospital.
Steve Smith, new chairman of the Northern Area Forum said: "We've had a good response so far, but we still need residents to submit their questions to us, or better still, attend the event and get a chance to submit a question live to our expert panel.
"This is a great opportunity to find out about topics that affect you and the area in which you live, so don't miss out."
The question time starts at 7pm with refreshments served from 6.30pm.
