Outstanding award for Staithes school

AN outstanding school has been honoured for its achievements at a special awards ceremony.

Head teacher of Staithes' Seton Primary School, Ros Barningham was invited by HM chief inspector of schools, Christine Gilbert to attend an event to celebrate its outstanding grade following a visit by school inspectors, Ofsted in 2008.

The glowing report by inspectors said the school's key strength lay in the exceptionally good leadership of Mrs Barningham who was supported by highly effective governors, capable staff and supportive parents.

Mrs Barningham visited Manchester Town Hall to attend a reception and lunch with Ofsted, school inspectors and headteachers from across the country for those whose schools were graded as outstanding during 2008 and 2009.

She said: "It was an honour and a privilege to be part of such a prestigious event and to meet such dedicated and professional people.

"As leaders of our establishments we are representing the excellent standards of teaching, learning and support which exist in them and can only be achieved through successful teamwork.

"The chief speaker was Mrs Gilbert who recognised and praised the excellent provision offered by the settings and school

"At Seton School, everyone pulls together to provide the best possible opportunities for children and this was reflected in our Ofsted report.

"Congratulations and well done to everyone in our school community."
