MP’s scam warning

WHITBY’S MP has warned of a publishing scam which tricks people into thinking they are being included in a parliamentary yearbook.

Robert Goodwill told the Gazette he had been contacted by a number of constituents who had fallen foul of the publication which claims to be operating from Barnet.

They included a restaurant and a farmer with a pedigree herd who were asked to write an article but then charged a £2000 fee.

Mr Goodwill said: “The House of Commons is aware of this and there is no endorsement of this publication. My warning is, this is a way of getting money out of people and we have no evidence that it is even being produced.”
