Mini fans vow to make a town return

CLASSIC cars certainly caught the eye when the South Lancashire Mini Owners Club visited Whitby.

Ten of the much-loved classic cars and one new style Mini parked up at the bandstand on the morning of Saturday 10 September.

The models, which span several decades, then headed off to Goathland on their Heartbeat run.

Organisers enjoyed coming to Whitby so much, they are already planning their next visit.

The South Lancashire Mini Owners Club was formed in early 1999 and currently has around 30 members.

They attend shows all over the country but this was the first time the club have held an event in Whitby.

Club member Robert O’Neil, told the Gazette, “Loads of people came out to have a look at the cars and the event was really successful.

“Whitby is a great place and we are definitely going to come back here, maybe when next year’s 60s festival is on.”
