Mercury rising as town enjoys warmest day for almost a decade

WHITBY enjoyed its warmest day for nine years last Wednesday.

The mercury rose to a stifling 28.9C – the hottest day since 19 June 2000 when the temperature soared to an even warmer 30.9C.
