THIS year the National Health Service celebrated its 60th anniversary.
Hospitals across the country have marked the celebration in their own way and Whitby Hospital has been no different.
In the hospital a display with old photographs, memorabilia and information about the hospital and how it has changed in the last six decades has been on display for patients, visitors and staff.
The displays are part of a wider commitment from North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust to mark the 60th anniversary of the creation of the NHS.
The pictures at Whitby show old patients and staff from many years ago as well as visits by important dignitaries such as Princess Margaret, old clippings from the Whitby Gazette and pictures of the old Cottage Hospital.
